Casas de Hualdo is an
estate located in the heart of Toledo, on the banks of the Tagus River. From
the plain itself to the first foothills of the sierra, its olive groves are
planted with olive trees, alternating with other crops and areas of woodland
interspersed over a slightly undulating topography that ranges from 400 to 600
metres above sea level.
The estate has more than 300,000 olive trees of four varieties and was distinguished with the 2012 Extrascape First Prize as one of the most beautiful olive groves in the world, awarded by the Italian association MolisExtra. The mill, for its part, was awarded the prize for the Best Olive Mill in Spain by the Association of Olive Municipalities (AEMO). Both elements, olive grove and mill, form part of an ambitious project to transform the estate as a whole towards a model of sustainable and circular agriculture that over the years has been developing its capacities around different emblematic productions in its territory, raising them to a level that combines craftsmanship and technology to achieve the best of them all.
Only with a deep respect and knowledge of the
environment, combining the peaceful enjoyment of the countryside with the most
advanced olive growing techniques, can the most precious attributes of this
ancient fruit be expressed in all their excellence. However, producing one of
the best extra virgin olive oils in the world is not enough. For Casas de Hualdo it is
also essential to have a 360º vision of its activity, in which all aspects of
production are perfectly aligned: responsibility towards the enormous natural
heritage they manage, a deep social commitment and a culture of continuous
innovation in all parts of the process.
Intense fruity extra virgin olive oil of
high complexity, with secondary aromas of green almonds, olive leaf and tomato,
complemented by those
of green grass, culminating with pleasant notes of basil. Sweet in the mouth,
both at the beginning and at the end, where bitter and spicy notes of medium
intensity appear.
